Amethyst is a member of the quartz family with a hardness of 7. Iron, aluminum and manganese, along with natural irradiation, all contribute to it’s color, which range from pale lilac to a deep, rich, grape-jelly purple. Amethyst is found in Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Uruguay, Africa,  Canada, Russia, the US and parts of Europe.

Prized for is beauty and legendary energies for thousands of years, Neolithic people in Europe used it at least 25,000 B.C. and ancient Egyptian use it as beads and amulets. It held an esteemed place in the Greek and Roman societies.

Amethyst is an extremely powerful and protective stone with a high spiritual vibration. It guards against psychic attack, transmuting the energy into love. Its serenity enhances higher states of consciousness and medication. It has strong healing and cleansing powers. It is also known as the “stone of spirituality and contentment”.  It has been used throughout time as an aid in promoting sobriety.  It has a sobering effect on overindulgence and physical passions, helping to overcome addictions of all kinds. On a higher level, Amethyst opens one to another reality. It also enhances cooperation, imparting a soothing, calming and tranquilizing influence.
